Image-recognition AI is first dService to go live, “Make a GUI” bounty & more

It’s another big week of rollouts here at AIKON. We’re hard at work building some of the next APIs that developers can use to build their dApps. (After hundreds of your survey submissions, we’re excited to be working on some of the top needed dApp solutions.)

Today is a big day — our first dService (blockchain-enabled API) is live on API.market and now anyone can use our alpha partner HADRON’s Computer Vision Transfer Learning API to recognize and categorize any photo!

In honor of the release — we’re launching two new bounties: one to test the live API, and one for the first to build an app using it.

9/10 UPDATE: these challenges are now closed — we’ll be rolling out new bounties soon! Thank you all for entering!

Developer Bounty 1: “Make a GUI!” (developer skills: beginner to intermediate)

  • We’re asking developers to be the first to build an app using an API in our marketplace. For this challenge, you’ll create a React app that allows anyone to throw an image against the HADRON’s Computer Vision Transfer Learning API and get back results. Think a good ole fashioned GUI that anyone can use to upload a photo — that spits out results from the API. How you present the results are up to you, but we’re looking for creativity here. Bigger stakes for the grand prize: 1000 ORE AND 2 Eth.

Developer Bounty 2: Hunt for the Perfect Pineapple (developer skills: beginner)

  • Using the HADRON transfer learning API, we’re asking you to comb the internet for the world’s most perfect pineapple, as deemed by the HADRON API results. Simply find what you think is the most pineapple-y image on the internet, run it through the API, and see if you can get the closest confidence level to 100% pineapple. Grand prize: 1000 ORE and 1000 HADRON. (There’s participation ORE as well.)

Developer Bounty 1: “Make a GUI!” (developer skills: beginner to intermediate)

This week’s challenge: Create a React app that allows anyone to throw an image against HADRON’s Computer Vision Transfer Learning API and see the 200 image tags it returns. Think a good ole fashioned GUI with a simple way for users to upload photos. How you present the results are up to you, but we’re looking for creativity here.

Your reward for winning the grand prize: aside from glory, we’ll be hooking you up with 1,000 ORE and 2 Eth.

To submit your app: publish your React app using https://surge.sh/ (Surge is static web publishing for Front-End Developers, right from the CLI — and it’s free!) and submit your github repo and your Surge URL to [email protected] via email.

Winner will be chosen from those who successfully submit an app with our specifications during the contest period; we’ll be judging on a rubrik of the best designed and easiest to use.

Bounty Specific RULES update:

  1. In AIKON’s sole discretion, we will be choosing the winner based on the submission that is the best-designed, and easiest to use, as determined by our product team.
  2. In order to win the bounty, you must write your code as open source and allow us to share it with our community — with credit, of course!

This bounty runs from August 23nd at 11:59am PST to September 9th at 11:59 pm PST.

Developer Bounty 2: Deep Space Bounty Hunters “The Final Chapter”: Hunt for the Perfect Pineapple (developer skills: beginner)

To wrap up our first official bounty challenge, Deep Space Bounty Hunters, we’re asking you to comb the universe for pineapples. Specifically — we want you to find the photo that comes back with the closest to 100% “pineapple” image tag result in the HADRON Computer Vision Transfer Learning API — the most perfect pineapple in the universe.

50 available prizes for participants and one Grand Prize Winner.

How to enter the Developer Challenge:

1. Create an account on API.market (please note, per terms of service, only create ONE account on API.market). If you are an existing user, simply log into your account, and go to your wallet top up your CPU.

2. Follow the instructions for the bounty challenge on HADRON’s “Computer Vision Transfer Learning” API in the marketplace.

3. Unlike our previous challenges, we’re not providing you with an image set! In this case, we’d like you to comb the internet for photos of Pineapples — or images that look like a pineapple. You could run as many as you like…your only limiting factor is CPU — although if you find yourself lost in a sea of pineapples, we claim no responsibility.

4. Follow the instructions of the API description page to call the API for each image URL you choose.

Submit your results to THIS Google form with the github name/email account you used to set up an account on API.market so we can validate your entry (YOU MUST drop in the link to your highest pineapple image so we can validate):

  • Grab the image you found with the highest likelihood of Pineapple and submit that image along with the number percentage of Pineapple confidence listed in your results. Example: Pineapple.jpg URL (.98 pineapple, ananas). The grand prize winner will be chosen from the entrants who have submitted their pineapple image URL with percentage confidence of pineapple, in the time stamped order of highest percentage of pineapple.

PLEASE NOTE: TO WIN THE GRAND PRIZE, YOU MUST fill out the Google form.

Besides the Grand Prize winner, 50 additional winners will be awarded 250 ORE for submitting their highest resulting image URL to the form.

Prizes will be:

  • For the first 50 contest submissions: 250 ORE Token Credits (please note, these will show up in your API.market account as credits for ORE tokens, as the token hasn’t yet been minted. These will convert to ORE tokens once the token is minted.
  • 1000 ORE Token Credits (please note, these are currently credits for ORE tokens, as the token hasn’t yet been minted. These will convert to ORE tokens once the token is minted.) PLUS 1000 HADRON coin.

Grand prize winner will be announced after the contest has ended. 50 additional winners will have their ORE automatically added to their account. Please, email [email protected] for a list of winners after the contest has ended.

Deep Space Bounty Hunters: Hunt for the Perfect Pineapple runs from August 23rd at 11:59am PST to September 9th at 11:59 pm PST.

Good luck!
